Sam Shure "Kasra"
Sam Shure breaks the ice with his first EP on Stil vor Talent and his first one to kick off the year.
With the title Kasra, a name signifying ‘king’ or ‘ruler’ in the Persian language, Sam gives a nod to his Egyptian influences, whose sonorous traits can easily be picked up on all of the three original tracks included.
The centrepiece of the release, Kasra, unfolds as a dynamic composition ridden with sonic glints, whether it’s sudden vocal chops or exotic instrument reverberations. The tribal-infused vocals give it a luscious gloss, while the uplifting synth lead pushes the tension to the breaking point.
Following in the same sensuous vein, but taking off on its own terms, Senorita grips onto a main vocal lead, whose soft howls add a nostalgic dimension to its buzzing synth backbone.
Dystopia goes beyond a sonic exploration and summons an entire realm with its integral dreamy esthetic. Rolling out nimble percussion and hazy synths, it’s an overall euphoria-inducing track filled with catchy piano loops.
Atish is responsible for the Kasra remix, providing an upbeat and more functional alternative to the original. The initial tribal vocal loop is subdued and minimized, while theatrical synths take the spotlight, ensuring a release finale on a compelling note.
Biography Stil vor Talent
Since it was founded in 2006, STIL VOR TALENT has continuously striven to evolve, to enable and further numerous artistic careers. Niconé, Sascha Braemer, KlangKuenstler, Teenage Mutants, HVOB are just a few of many names that inextricably link to the label.
Next to commercial success in popular culture, embodied by hits like ‘Hypnotized’ or ‘3 Tage Wach’, STIL VOR TALENT is particularly known for its DIY-attitude, graphic realisation, booking agency, connected fashion label and musical variety, spanning from dreamy house to complex electronica and floor-shaking techno.
Apart from EPs, released on a monthly basis and aimed directly at the dance floor, the past years have seen an increased focus on the long-player format. While "10 Years Stil vor Talent presented by Oliver Koletzki" was a recent milestone, artists like Niko Schwind, Kellerkind and HVOB have explored the joys of a longer format with particularly impressive results.
This colourful mix of music has obviously created many magic moments at countless parties – one of STIL VOR TALENT’s main driving forces and motivations. Thus, clubs all around the world know: the name STIL VOR TALENT stands for great artists, long nights and quality music. With showcases at Amsterdam's ADE or Barcelona's Sonar, as well as at MELT! Festival or SonneMondSterne, STIL VOR TALENT is a constant presence at electronic music's most influential events.
The country’s capital can obviously not fall short, which is why Berlin is the backdrop to many legendary STIL VOR TALENT nights. After stopping off at several different locations, the label has settled at three of the city’s most loved venues: Watergate, Ritter Butzke, and the beach location Rummelsburg.
The latter's bi-annual Stil vor Talent Festival serves as the blueprint for SVT's openair events throughout Germany. Whether it's Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt or Oliver Koletzki's hometown Brunswick – STIL VOR TALENT has become synonymous with high quality outdoor productions, nationwide. A few summers ago, the STIL VOR TALENT headquarters moved to the heart of Kreuzberg, where the SVT Store couples workspace and shop, in order to be more accessible to the fans.
Music may inform everything, but STIL VOR TALENT is not just a record label. “It’s a lifestyle choice,” Oliver Koletzki notes with a hint of irony. Hence, sounds lead to skirts and beats to blouses: there’s a fashion output in the form of STIL VOR TALENT FASHION that has several collections under its belt, all designed by young newcomer designers.
This year STIL VOR TALENT is going to stay true to its successful roots: there will be LPs by Reinier Zonneveld and Null & Void. Paired with new EP material by Teenage Mutants, Several Definitions and Niko Schwind, as well as lots of unforgettable parties, everyone should get their money’s worth.
